Send Us Your New Guys & Gals – Fire Sprinkler System Training for Newcomers to the Industry

OVERVIEW:

Do you have employees that just started on the job site? Helpers that you are ready to move up into technicians? Staff that needs a starting point so that they are familiar with field work? If you do – this class is designed with them in mind!

 

On February 19th the Fire Sprinkler Training Facility at General Air Products will be holding a training session designed specifically to bring “The New Guy/Gal” up to speed on the basics of fire sprinkler equipment and accessories. This FREE, one day class will cover fire sprinkler equipment & tools with the beginner in mind and feature presentations from:

 

 

Class Schedule:

7:30am – 8am:  Arrival & Breakfast

8am – 10:30am:
CPVC Pipe Certification – BlazeMaster

This training, guided by Sean Pearce from Lubrizol, will focus on installation, the advantages of using BlazeMaster and some discussion on compatibility issues regarding plastic piping in residential 13R and 13D applications. This session will also include CPVC Pipe Certification from Blazemaster for all attendees.

10:30am – 12pm:
Wet System Risers & Backflow Prevention – Vince Powers, NFSA

Vince Powers, I.T.M. Specialist with the National Fire Sprinkler Association, will review inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting; along with HANDS-ON instruction regarding common techniques for wet system risers and backflow preventers.

12pm – 12:30pm:  Lunch

12:30pm – 2pm:
Dry Pipe Valves & Systems – Vince Powers, NFSA

After lunch, Vince will walk trainees through tripping our LIVE dry pipe valves and review the various types of dry and pre-action systems, when/where to install dry systems vs. wet systems, as well as system installation and troubleshooting.

2pm – 3pm:
Air Compressors and Accessories – General Air Products

General Air Products will review the many types of fire protection air compressors available for dry sprinkler systems and get trainees HANDS-ON with setting air maintenance devices, adjusting pressure switches, and mounting compressors on the riser.

3pm – 4pm:
Inspector’s Test Valves & Auxiliary Drains – AGF Manufacturing

AGF Manufacturing will review inspector’s test valves and auxiliary drains – when/how they should be installed and how to properly troubleshoot them in the field.
